General & Laparoscopic Surgery with experienced hands.

When surgery is the answer, you want a surgeon who’s done it before — many times. CIH’s General and Laparoscopic Surgery department covers a wide range of abdominal and soft-tissue procedures, with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques that mean less pain and faster recovery.

Understanding surgical care

Our surgeons do not recommend the operating room until it is the right call. When surgery is needed, you are in experienced hands — with clear explanation of the procedure, preparation and recovery before you commit to anything.

We work closely with gastroenterology, radiology and pathology so that by the time you are in the operating room, your surgeon already has the full picture. Post-operative care is structured, covering wound management, activity guidance and follow-up.

We explain exactly what the procedure involves, what preparation is required, and what recovery looks like before you decide.

2

Minimally invasive focus

Where suitable, laparoscopic techniques are preferred to reduce pain, scarring and recovery time.

3

Coordinated team

Surgeons, anaesthetists and post-operative nursing staff work together from consultation through recovery.

4

Structured aftercare

Wound management, activity guidance and follow-up appointments are planned so recovery does not feel like guesswork.

Common questions

What does a first surgical consultation involve?

We review your history, any previous reports or imaging, and examine the relevant area. We explain whether surgery is indicated, what the procedure would involve, and what recovery typically looks like — before you commit to anything.

Do you offer laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery?

Yes. Where suitable, we prefer minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques for procedures such as gallbladder, appendix and many hernia repairs, to reduce pain and speed recovery.

When should I seek urgent surgical advice?

Severe abdominal pain, signs of acute appendicitis, irreducible or painful hernia, significant bleeding, or rapidly worsening symptoms need prompt assessment. Call us or come to the hospital.

Can I share previous reports or imaging on WhatsApp first?

Yes. You may share reports or imaging so the team can guide urgency and preparation. A proper assessment still requires a consultation.

Urgent warning signs

Severe abdominal pain, signs of appendicitis, painful or irreducible hernia, significant bleeding, or rapidly worsening symptoms need same-day attention. Please call or come to the hospital.
