Prostate health, handled with dignity.
Unhurried, confidential assessment of an enlarged prostate, urinary symptoms and PSA concerns, explained in plain language.
Understanding the prostate
The prostate sits just below the bladder. With age it commonly enlarges (BPH), which can cause a weak stream, frequent urination, waking at night and a feeling that the bladder has not emptied.
These symptoms can also overlap with other conditions, so a proper assessment matters. Many men are managed well with medicines, and procedures are considered only when they are truly needed.

Common questions
Does an enlarged prostate mean cancer?
No. BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement. However, some symptoms overlap with other conditions, which is why an assessment is recommended.
What does a raised PSA mean?
PSA can rise for several reasons, including enlargement and infection, not only cancer. Your doctor interprets it with your age, examination and other findings before advising next steps.
Will I need surgery?
Many men are managed with medicines and lifestyle advice. A procedure is discussed if symptoms are severe, medicines are not enough or complications develop.
Urgent warning signs
If you suddenly cannot pass urine, or have severe lower abdominal pain with fever, please go to the emergency department straight away.
